A trip to Istanbul is not complete without visiting Kariye Museum built between 11th and 14th centuries with its Byzantine frescoes and mosaics.
The Kariye Hotel next door is a good example of Ottoman Turkish civilian architecture. This Ottoman mansion has a restaurant called Asitane with authentic Ottoman Cuisine including ingredients, cooking methods, herbs and spices.
